Brig Alind Dayal was commissioned in the Indian Army, Corps of Signals on 27 June 1965. During the course of his approximately 31 years of service in the Army he held various command and staff appointments with distinction. He completed his B.E. in Electronics and Telecommunications as well as M.Tech in the same discipline whilst in service. He retired as a Brigadier on 31 December 1995. Immediately after retirement he joined a shipping company at Mumbai in January 1996 as Director (Operations) where he was responsible for smooth operations of a fleet of 20 vessels of various tonnages. After serving there for three years he switched over to another shipping company in the same role. In July 2000 he joined Group 4 Securicor (G4S), a multinational security company where he served for 8 years as a profit centre head as well as Senior Vice President (Operations). He had also worked with Terra Force Security Company (a member of the DLF family) in the capacity of Senior Vice President – Operations in that organization
